Purton Walking Group is a friendly, welcoming group of people who enjoy walking. We walk twice a month with walks, which are around 5 miles, being organised by our members. We currently have around 40 members who take their turn in organising and leading the walks, some of which are local and some we drive to the start.
The walk leaders will decide their walk, pre-walk the route then email everyone about a week beforehand with details including stiles, the conditions underfoot (mud, etc) and the distance. The leaders also decide the start time, which is normally around 9.30am-10am.
All our communications are by email and members of the group share their contact information - home address, landline and mobile numbers. Emails are not sent bcc. In addition, all our members live in Purton and we do hope our members will volunteer to lead walks.
We welcome new members and anyone living in Purton who is interested in joining should email purtonwalking@gmail.com
Don't miss this FREE, lovely exhibition, featuring some very special Coronation items! See poster for full details.
RWB ACADEMY – FREE PRE-LOVED UNIFORM STALL TUESDAY 29th AUGUST 1-3pm AT ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT ACADEMY.
RWBA we will be running a 'pre-loved' uniform stall at school on Tuesday 29th August 1 - 3pm.
This will be an opportunity for you and your family to come and get any pieces of uniform you may need free of charge before school starts in September.
If you have any uniform you wish to donate, there are collection boxes situated at the front of school, which can be used all academic year as a drop off point. Thank you in advance for donating any uniform.
Please contact your child's year team or reception if you have any questions regarding this and please do come along in August if you need anything!
For information – RWBA have taken over the provision of Pre-loved Uniform from RWB LYN in July 2023. The LYN has done an amazing job in getting the scheme up and running in 2019 and will still be heavily involved in collecting, sorting, and mending any donations. A huge “Thank You” to all involved.

This Saturday 10.30am at Pips Café!
Following the success of the Purton Litter Pick, held on 8th May 2023 as part of the Big Help Out celebrations for the Coronation, a number of villagers have requested the formation of a group, to carry out regular litter picks in Purton and Ridgeway Farm.
If you are interested in being part of this group, please pop along to Pips Cafe on Saturday 2nd September at 10.30am, to discuss how best to launch this initiative.
Whilst everyone is probably able to supply their own high vis vests, gloves and bin bags, funding will be needed to provide the group with additional necessary equipment, such as litter grabbers, bin bag hoops etc. There is currently a group in operation in Purton Stoke - and they have kindly offered to loan their ten sets of litter picking equipment, when required - but as we will need more than this, we would really love to hear from anyone with ideas as to how we might raise the additional money required.
If you are unable to attend the meeting but would still like to be involved, please send an email to: purtonlitterpick@gmail.co.uk
