VOLUNTEER FOOTPATH TEAM UPDATE

In June we replaced another hanging post to a wooden kissing gate on FP72 off of Hyde Lane. We continued trimming back in the Packhorse and Down Farm area but missed a couple of Mondays due to rain. Strimming of overgrown footpaths and a fallen branch obstructing the footpath around Bradon Forest School was removed.

Here is an interesting piece of information for you. We now have a new footpath, number PURT162, well it's a bridleway. It was noticed on the online Definitive Map for Wiltshire. It's off Wood Lane and is a short length from the road through a wooded area to the Lydiard Millicent boundary where it continues as a Lydiard bridleway. We hadn't been told of this, it's presumably a new entry correcting a previous omission and not marked on our current paper maps.

Our traditional Annual Village Walk will take place on Sunday September 4th. Meet at the layby opposite the cenotaph to leave at 2 o clock. The route is not yet decided but will be 4 - 5 miles with minimal or no stiles. We are hoping for fine weather.
